So glad you're here! We hope this workshop on version control with git/Github is both informative, applicable, and entertaining! Our goal is to lead you through several individual and group projects that will familiarize you with version control, best practices, and its operations.
You'll learn why it's such a game changer and come away equipped with an employable skill! If we're honest you'll probably come away feeling like this...
There are just a couple items you'll need to have ready before the workshop:
- Create a Github account (if you don't already have one)
- Download VS Code (it's free!)
- Knowing some markdown will be helpful, but don't worry, you can always copy/paste/edit like a real software engineer 😛 Markdown Cheatsheet
We'll go over the following on Workshop day...
Just to help expedite everyone's setup and avoid any discrepancies between computers, we've setup a handy Github Codespace that you can launch. It's free for 60 hours (more than enough for today) and it has Python, R, and some other handy features we'll cover on the day of.
