Ive not been able to find a WORKING newtabpage or new tab override addon for Firefox since a recent Firefox update, they did something that no longer allows the selection of the urlbar/address bar upon load of a new tab and a custom/set new tab page or url in the newtab addon like yours, or authored by others as well.
Im adding this here because Im about to try your addon out to see if the selection of the urlbar/address bar text and subsequent highlight of said text works, so the user can automatically begin to type a new url/address upon load of a new tab without having to manually highlight the text.

Testing it now.......

_Result:

The newtab custom address works fine, but the urlbar text doesn't automatically select and highlight to allow the user to immediatly begin to type a desired URL or search from the urlbar without having to manually select, highlight the urlbar and it's text therein, thus erasing the text upon the first keystroke or letter typed.

Some similar addons to yours do have a setting to select the webpage or select the page's search text entry area or box on the page as opposed to the urlbar. This works in a pinch for those addon makers who haven't found a fix but this isn't the most optimal way as most users have a pre-learned way of typing a query or URL into a newtabpage, which creates unnessessary mistake keystrokes from the confusion, thus not optimal._

New Tab Override also has this feature. At the moment there is no other solution.
