Hi,

I've been asked about making a pull request for changes I've developed inside a "freebsd" branch in my fork.

I don't know how to make a pull request to a new branch in the upstream (into your git repo), so I've added my changes to my master branch and adjusted the magic path to linux ones.

You may, or may not, use these changes. They are mostly useful for me at work since we are using SVN as our main VCS. Also, these changes were developed with FreeBSD, I haven't tested them on linux but since bash should act the same, I hope these changes are compatible with linux.

This also lets people know that these features exist somewhere.
