I imported a Liana Taproot descriptor into a Coldcard Q. The descriptor was not registered by Liana into the Coldcard but instead imported using "Settings>Miniscript>Import"

I can sign transactions with it just fine using Liana v8.0.0 however I cannot get it to verify addresses:

Ah! I guess it's related to the "name" of the descriptor? The team will get
back to you.

That’s my theory too, using a Ledger, the wallet is called "Liana-$checksum" but it’s only "$checksum" on the CC.

It is on the current Edge firmware.

@scgbckbone how the wallet name is expected to be passed when importing a miniscript descriptor via sdcard or QR code?

Named miniscript imports. Wrap descriptor in json {"name:"n0", "desc":""} with name key to use this name instead of the filename. Mostly usefull for USB and NFC imports that have no file, in which case name was created from descriptor checksum.

You should be able to derive the addresses directly on the CC to check
them, in the meantime.
It is on the Edge firmware, correct?

Imo not related to wallet name. Very strange that you can sign but cannot verify as wallet matching is done the same way in signing/addr verification. Maybe you have more than one miniscript wallet enrolled and the other wallet has almost identical structure? (So it matches it first but it is not the target?)
