quick question: does the add_ucdp_acd() state-year data only include conflicts for a state-year if that state was listed under "side_a" in the UCDP original data? That is what it seems like when checking your data (I focussed on interstate conflicts) against the original dataset (e.g. Thailand in 2011 or the US in 2001 are missing when listed as part of side_b; but the US is back in 2003 when UCDP listed it as part of side_a). Is this on purpose or am I misunderstanding something?
Many thanks and best,
Nicolai

That appears to be how I've been doing it. I admit my expertise with the UCDP data is mostly focused on intra-state conflicts, my understanding is that's where Side A typically is. I'll confess up front that my knowledge is more in orbit of how CoW does things than how UCDP does things. I'm open to suggestions/improvements.
