I notice that in your readings for Phase 3, you list the Rails 3 Way. I also notice that the CodeSchool Rails tutorials are on Rails 4, and some of the world has moved on to Rails 5. Fernandez has written books for the Rails 4 Way and the Rails 5 Way. I don't know how different these "ways" might be, but you might have a better idea. Is there a particularly reason you still list the Rails 3 book for the curriculum? I'm trying to figure out where I should put my own attention as I work through the curriculum, and which versions of Ruby/Rails I should install/learn/focus-on. Any advice you have on that would be most welcome.
Thanks!

We definitely need to yank those out. We actually don't put much effort
into Rails at all in the apprenticeship these days.
I definitely think learning Ruby really well is enlightening. It provides
insight into what a well designed language should feel like. Rails,
similarly, can show you what a productive toolset can do. It takes a lot to
learn, because it's so deep these days. But there's a lot of value in there
towards building value quickly.
I haven't read the Rails 4 or 5 Way books, but I would suggest learning
those versions over 3.
Thank you so much for your feedback and notes on the curriculum. It's
helped quite a bit.
Ironically, as I've been working my way through the curriculum, I've been focusing a lot of effort on Rails because there is so much to learn I'd be interested in hearing about what fills that niche in the curriculum these days. Do you still work with some sort of MVC framework or mindset?
