Does version updates work in AWS CloudFoundation. I tried but does not seem to work.

I have the same problem. How do you upgrade Nexus Repository Manager on AWS using cloudformation?
I followed this guide but it installs v3.15.2-01 and the current latest is v3.29.2-02
I tried to update the version and sha256 for the nexus repo and then update the CloudFormation template, but this failed and rolled back.
