On Mac, a GUI app belongs to the Applications folder. Right now, dwex is not there. Should it be? Upvote to agree.

App bundles in ~/Application are supposed to be picked up by the system.

To create an app bundle from an ad hoc folder, see here. The key is the metadata item kMDItemContentTypeTree .

To manipulate metadata, either NSMetadataItem or mdls, xattr.
