As of now, unattended-upgrades can notify by mail.
Mail is cumbersome to setup - you need an smtp relay, whereas webhook are trivial, you only need an http client.
curl -fsS https://notify.mydomain.net/webhook_8fv9ef6?result=success
And then the alerting chain can apply.
