That's the solution I wound up adopting, but my version is ghetto-looking, kludgy, and requires lots of unnecessary code.

Is MUI agaianst making things easier for developers? I see no reason why this shouldn't be an option .. just like it is on Autocomplete.

Also, this is NOT a duplicate of #26356; it's a duplicate of the closed #27141

Doesn't make sense why this was closed. (Or rather, why the original #27141 was closed.)
