Good morning,

We are using the custom field to map the type of activities courses correspond to in our Moodle and have recently requested our category administrators to complete this field. At the moment, the field can be completed at course level and we want to give the category administrators the option to bulk-complete the field at category level, but it's not working exactly as we would need. Please see below.

User story: As a category administrator, I want to be able to decide whether I overwrite existing field values at course level or whether the value I apply only replaces blank fields.

Current situation: In the Set course fields page at Category level, I can only apply a value at category level if I tick the Overwrite existing field values box. This was checked in Boost.

The drop-down only works if I tick the box.

Desired improvements:

Could we have the option of only populating blank fields with the value selected? This would allow preserving existing values applied at course level in the Course Settings.
Could the box be replaced by a toggle giving the category administrator a choice to overwrite existing values or not?
Side note: the wording in the language strings above the drop-down menu would need to be reviewed. We have customised this in our Moodle.

Please let me know if this requires clarifications or if there is anything else you would need from me.

Many thanks,

Natacha
