Wrong or inconsistent Korean translation for "activation key" #24638
Comments
Hi! Thanks for making us aware of the problem. We raised the issue with our internal localization team. This issue should be fixed hopefully in the next version of PowerToys. |
This should be fixed in a newer build such as .70.1, can you please verify? /needinfo |

This should be fixed in 0.76. Can you please validate /needinfo |
Checked at v0.76.2. |
This issue contains a partial error. The correct term is "๋ฐ๋ก ๊ฐ๊ธฐ ํค," not "๋จ์ถํค." However, aside from the issue with "๋ฐ๋ก ๊ฐ๊ธฐ ํค," all other points raised are correct. The translation is generally inconsistent and inaccurate. |

๋จ์ถํค
๋ฐ๋ก ๊ฐ๊ธฐ ํค
(for all cases)โน Why is the current translation wrong
์ ํ ์ธ์ฆํค
means product activation key (a.k.a. serial code, CD key etc.) so this is obviously wrong.๋ฐ๋ก ๊ฐ๊ธฐ ํ์ฑํ
means "to activate a shortcut", not "a shortcut to activate a feature".@"ํ์ฑํ ๋ฐ๋ก ?๊ฐ๊ธฐ( ํค)?"
(yes, this is a C#-style regex) is not that bad here, but is inconsistent from feature to feature. Finally, the phrase๋ฐ๋ก ๊ฐ๊ธฐ
implies that this is a shortcut icon (on Desktop or in a folder, in Windows Explorer context) rather than a shortcut key.๋จ์ถํค
is more appropriate here.Edit 2025-01-06: The expected phrase was changed to comply with Windows Explorer's Properties dialog.
