Issue

The Windows installer used to have an undocumented /AllUsers switch to allow MegaSync to install system wide (so all users could use it). The 5.7.0 release (at least) installs the binaries to the installing user's profile regardless of the /AllUsers switch so only the installing user has access. It does put the MegaSync shortcuts into the Start Menu for all users, but they won't work of course.

Please re-enable the /AllUsers switch on the installer.

Steps to Reproduce (For Bug Reports)

List the steps to reproduce the issue:

1.Run MEGAsyncSetup64.exe /S /AllUsers as an administrator
2. MegaSync will appear (with generic icon) in the Start Menu for unprivileged users.
3. Attempting to run MegaSync as an unprivileged user will result in an error.

What happened?

MegaSync installed into the installing user's profile.

What did you expect to happen?

MegaSync would be installed into c:\Program Files for all users to access/run.

Environment Details

Provide details about the environment where the issue occurred.

  • OS: Windows 11
  • MEGASync Version: 5.7.0

Hi @teknowledgist, thanks for the report.

You can use MEGAsyncSetup64.exe /S /MULTIUSER=true to install for all users. The app then gets installed in C:\ProgramData\.
