I have a big binary file I don't care about parsing, all I need is extract several "type-length-value" kind of structures from the middle (exact position unknown, but they can be found by the magic header). I tried to fiddle with "instances" but I can't make it to work.

This isn't possible at the moment, sorry - see #538.
