One of my big ideas for railsdevs is to charge companies $99 per month for full access to the site. I don't think that showing all of a developer's profile but only hiding their email is the right approach. If someone wanted to, they could easily contact them via Twitter, their website, or googling around until they find the person.
Instead, I think "hiding" information for signed out folks might be a better approach. (This would expand to companies not paying, once that is developed.) To kick off some ideas, I thought I'd document how MicroAcquire handles this.
Some of these fields aren't on the developer profile yet, but I think we can build on it with what we have now. Diving into a profile could present more information about the developer (again, without giving away who they are). From there, the Message CTA would be shown which would kick off the registration -> payment flow to ideally create a customer.
My reservation is that there seem to be a few folks on the site who have no interest in finding a job. Will railsdevs offer a spot for them somewhere else, like a Community section? Or will they eventually get buried down the list as more and more folks add their profiles.
Lots to think on here! But I wanted to get some ideas "on paper" while they were still fresh.
