move through list without arrow keys

Hey! I would like to know if there was a way to move through the suggestion list without using the arrow keys but without selecting the word until I press enter.

Right now I have Tab and S-Tab mapped to select_next_item() and select_prev_item(), but if I use them, that will overwritte the word I started to write, which doesn't happen if I use the arrow keys.

The thing is that the arrow keys are not very confortable for me to use, so is there a way to map their functionality to other keys?
