CAR is useful to bundle multiple objects, even absent chunking. The spec might not even need profiling.

CAR is relatively simple, including it would be comfy to me

Including CAR is immensely helpful as it decouples both storage and transfer from application specific implementation details of working with content addressed data.

Either way, we should be specific about which version of the CAR spec is supported.
