IDEA GATHERING: Bold in template idea text published as regular text with asterisks #1984
Comments
@BeccaMelhuish can you check if it's fixed now (see screen recording) Screen.Recording.2025-02-28.at.00.27.38.mov |
@BeccaMelhuish I think this is fixed now? (screenshot1, screenshot2) |
Tested it with a use from @BeccaMelhuish and it seems that pressing the return button to add a space after the bold text may have caused the issue. See screen recording Screen.Recording.2025-02-28.at.18.11.51.mov |
Just tested myself and I think it was these spaces that caused the issue, as when I removed them it works fine: We do need to fix this at some point so that the preview actually does show what will be posted (and what shows in 'Write' isn't misleading either). But it will take it out of the priority list for the next code launch :) |
What is the problem?
In both user tests so far, the bold text in the idea heading they kept in the text that they actually submitted. It showed as bold in the template, but once they posted it, it was posted as regular text with just asterisks.

Why is this a problem?
Doesn't look good, and users can't edit once published if it's anonymous.
Possible solution.
I wonder if it's to do with the space that's before the second set of **? But in the template it does recognise it as bold, so hopefully this can be mirrored in the published version?
The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
