Is it possible to have turtles run startup on placement?

I'm using a mod that adds an item that lets you shoot blocks, and I wanted to have an ender turtle run its startup script once it lands. However, it looks like whether you shoot it or manually place it, startup only runs after you right click on the turtle, not after its turned on. Any way around this?

Well turtle is placed down in off state by default, when you right click it you are turning it on.
You could use peripheral methods to turn computer on, but that would require either wired network or another turtle be in touch contact with target turtle. There are no ingame methods to remotely turn computers on/off (Operators can use /computercraft command to turn computer on/off remotely but that is not really applicable in normal game play)
