Release Checklist

Preview Give feedback

1. set a release date & notify team
2. Push v2024.2.6 tag
3. Verify that the GitHub (software) release has been published
4. Verify catalystcoop.pudl PyPI (software) release
5. Verify that PUDL repo archive on Zenodo has been updated w/ new version
6. Wait 6-10 hours for a successful build to complete
7. Verify RTD build for new version is up to date (activate new version first in RTD admin panel)
8. Verify stable and version tag point at same git ref
9. Verify that RTD docs build for stable branch gets updated
10. Verify gs://pudl.catalyst.coop/vYYYY.MM.DD has the right data.
11. Verify gs://pudl.catalyst.coop/stable has the right data.
12. Verify s3://pudl.catalyst.coop/vYYYY.MM.DD has the right data.
13. Verify s3://pudl.catalyst.coop/stable has the right data.
14. Verify Zenodo draft deposition has expected data
15. Update Zenodo description and other metadata based on release notes / details
16. Manually publish the new Zenodo deposition
17. Review conda-forge packaging / dependenies and publish release
18. Create a GitHub Discussions Announcement (should automate with gh release create command, eventually)
19. Update release documentation to better reflect the actual process
