There are quite a lot of packages that add significant functionality beyond that contained in Bilby.
It would be nice to maintain a list of downstream packages with a brief description so that it is easier to find downstream work.

A great example of this is https://www.astropy.org/affiliated/index.html, probably the old style is most simple here.

General thoughts:

  • This should be voluntary and we should not add any packages without the maintainers' approval.
  • We should have a process and documentation about we expect
    • should we require pip/conda installable?
    • public/open source
    • must implement a Bilby compatible likelihood class/prior or more generic, what about e.g., new waveform models in a drop in format?
  • Do we want a separate list for more example like repositories that aren't installable packages?
  • We should have a standard process for adding new package, maybe an issue template?
    • this would be difficult to handle for non-LVK members

A non-exhaustive list of packages from the top of my head I'm aware of to get some feedback (whether this is something you think is useful):

There are also many non-LVK packages which will be easier if/when we move github.

If there are some I missed, please let me know and I can add them here!

Thoughts? @git.ligo:gregory.ashton @git.ligo:sylvia.biscoveanu @git.ligo:michael.williams @git.ligo:aditya.vijaykumar @git.ligo:rhiannon.udall (I think most other people are tagged above)

Hi @git.ligo:colm.talbot

Yes, there is a public mirror of hanabi on GitHub here: https://github.com/ricokaloklo/hanabi

This sounds great! Adding a couple more that I am aware of:

  • redback - @git.ligo:nikhil.sarin
  • gwcosmo - @rachel.gray
  • icarogw - @simone.mastrogiovanni
  • bilby_tgr - @git.ligo:aditya.vijaykumar @git.ligo:tomasz.baka @jan.steinhoff @elise.sanger @michalis.agathos

I like this idea, and I am happy to be the point of call for Redback.

Just a note - Redback is not really for GW science, which all the other packages appear to be. I am not sure if the intention here is to stick to GW packages or for the downstream packages to have a specific type of interface. Would be good to discuss/clarify.

I definitely want to include non-GW packages, partially because it will allow me to be more aware of non-GW projects!

The repository is in need of some serious cleanup, but I maintain bilby_glitch (also name may change, tbd)

Hi @git.ligo:colm.talbot, yes, I started this project with @git.ligo:narola.bharatbhai. The repo is probably going to be deprecated soon since @git.ligo:narola.bharatbhai has been working on integrating the code for relative binning with HOMs in the main bilby code base.

On a side note, I also have the GOLUM package for strong lensing analyses relying on Bilby (and its corresponding pipe version here and based on bilby_pipe).
