Since I suppose that it's still nice-to-have compatibility with MongoDB 2.6 onwards, 4.7 is the one providing all the possible compatibility including legacy versions, all but 7.0 and 6.1.
Benefits would be newer library with more vulnerabilities covered, preserving support to legacy versions and extra functionality added.
What needs to happen?
MongoDB 4.4 is reaching its EOL in February 2024.
