From Allusive: An Update on the Situation #61
Comments
It is a shame that most of your hard work went to waste as it wouldn't be contributed back into picom for a better user experience, i wish you best of luck. |
You can still try to upstream it. The code is still here. |
Sorry, but it will be a very big burden on myself, as the code itself has been formatted:
On-top of this, Compfy is starting fresh instead of forking from Picom HEAD, which makes git commits much harder to track down. If only Compfy based on Picom, retaining the original contributor's hard work too, it would have been much easier to merge upstream, unfortunately that is not the case here. I was told by Allusive that they would do it eventually... |
@apprehensions |
If anything, I forked it over https://github.com/museoa/compfy |

Looks like yshui won't be adding anything from compfy, instead he will be using FT-Labs animations. Guess i did that for nothing lol |
Wtf???? |
You could try submitting your work that is missing to FT-Labs fork |
The only specific thing i can think of not in FT-Labs would be the custom corner rules and maybe some dwm patches i did. Also i find it strange because i installed FT-Labs picom and there were not any animations so I'm not sure if i did something wrong or what is going on. |
hi jasper, i hope youre doing well. its a pity you cant maintain compfy anymore :( i just tried the ft-labs fork, i do have animations. but just like yshui picom, and every other fork i tried, theres still the issue that made me look for alternatives in the first place: the closing animation works very unreliably, most of the time there is no animation. you fixed that in compfy / picom-allusive. it would be great if that improvement could find its way into picom somehow! |
Once FT-Labs merges with Picom I'll look into making a pull request to fix the issue if it is still present then! |
@apprehensions Just wanted to warn everyone that I believe my @allusive-dev account will be deleted within the next week or so along with the Compfy repository. For anymore future discussions about Compfy or similar we can talk in the Discussions tab for https://github.com/jasper-at-windswept/picom |
@allusive-dev Are you alright? |
+1, I'm also concerned since you basically deleted your github and discord account at the same time without a word so wondering if you're alright aswell @jasper-at-windswept |
Hey Arch, |
Thanks for clearing it up. |
Haha, my name doesn't have arch in it but I guess we know that it's really you now As for your explanation, that sounds reasonable and thanks for the explanation. That definitely is better than what I thought was happeneing. Anyway, I wish the best for you! Oh and also, come and say hi every once in a while, the server has a matrix and revolt bridge :) |

Uh so, apparently GitHub never even deleted my account to any extent... |
Hello All.
I just want to apologize first, some thing came up in my life and I became unable to continue looking after Compfy.
I know some people have had some concerns about my leaving and since it was so abrupt that maybe I left malware or something but I need to assure you this is not true.
As well I need to let all know this repository will be deleted along with my
allusive-dev
account most likely before the end of this month.Again I'm sorry I couldn't keep this project alive, I wish i could have.
Signing off,
Allusive
