linking issues with macOS HomeBrew

I performed a HomeBrew install and am linking against the library version 1.1.0_3, but I get the following errors, basically saying that the matplot::figure_type::save is not included in the lib:

Any ideas on how to proceed or what I am missing? I assume GNUPlot is used in conjunction, but I don't see any linking to the library in the library file for matplotplusplus.

Also of note, I run into similar issues when building against the prebuilt binaries.
