Since the map data is not stored alongside the world save itself, when a local world is deleted, the map data for it remains, and can reappear if a new world is created with the same name. While the map data can be easily deleted from the map menu, if you frequently create new worlds and have trouble making unique names, having to delete the map data manually can quickly become annoying. (Not to mention map data can quickly pile up and take up space on disk) It would be a very nice quality of life feature for the data to be automatically deleted if the user wants it to be.
