I would like to see a tag that provided a hook that allows one media file to be linked to another. A number of media files could be stitched together to make a podcast "episode"
I see 2 ways this could be used.
a) At the moment ad insertion is achieved by taking an existing episode and splicing in audio chunks (ads) to make a new audio file, this is usually a unique audio file generated per person, which makes the episodes practically uncacheable. (I respect that people will say that ads then could be skipped, but that is not the point of this proposal)
b) A choose your own adventure podcast format could use this type of linking to allow the choice of the next section of audio to be fetched to continue the story. I personally see this being useful for educational purposes. A portion of information is delivered and the listener i asked to guess the correct answer, the picked answer could contain the details on if it is right, or if it is wrong, why etc etc.
I am sure that there are other possible uses too.
Unsure, at this time, what a tag like this would look like.
