Activating BlendLuxCore in Blender 3.x causes Cycles / Optix to no longer work #745
Comments
Quick update. If I set Cycles to use CUDA instead of Optix Blender just immediately closes when using Cycles / GPU instead of displaying the error message above. |
Another update: This doesn't happen in Windows. Everything works fine there. |
Confirmed in Fedora 35 using Luxcore 2.61 and Blender 3.0 |
While trying to compile LuxCore on Linux I noticed that it was using Optix 7.1.0 (which is ancient). |
Is anyone here actually using BlendLuxCore in Blender > 3.0 on Linux? |
Yep, over here But Cycles (OptiX) still works for me PC: OS: Linux Mint 20.3 Cinnamon -> Kernel 5.4.0-131-generic |
Hmm... so sad to see LuxCore go the way of the dodo :( |
As soon as the BlendLuxCore addon is loaded I can no longer render with Cycles GPU (Optix) in Linux. Haven't had a chance to give it a try under Windows though.

I confirmed this on 2 different setups (1 Laptop with an RTX 2070 Super / Intel CPU and 1 desktop with a GTX 1080ti / Threadripper CPU). As soon as the BlendLuxCore Addon is unloaded Cycles works as it should. As soon as BlendLuxCore is loaded I can only use Cycles CPU.
