Render charts in grid

Is it at all possible to render a data chart in the igx-grid component? When I render the following chart, it works fine:

But if I try the same in a grid column template, it renders an empty canvas:

I have looked at the sparkline, and I do understand that this is designed to work with the grid, but it seems very limited. Is it possible to do something like a stacked bar with the sparkline at all? I could work with a plain vertical column as well, but that would require to add some markers, and the markers for the spark line seems to be fixed to specific values (like low and high). I guess there is no way to assign a marker to a specific value?
