Charge'n'shoot mode - not sure if it's charging

I have the NX300 firmware version 1.45. I've followed the instructions and the charge light is on but the battery still drains normally. I am using the remote control app listed here https://mewlips.github.io/nx-remote-controller-mod/. I saw there is an issue with WIFI apps and am wondering if this is causing problems. However the camera does not turn off. All native camera functions work as well as the remote control.

An additional question I have is about the intervalometer. The physical buttons activate it without issue but when using the remote control app I can't. The app seems to activate the native functions associated with the buttons, the intervalometer will not appear.
