Preference option for turning off UI animations. #2405
Comments
I think you're referring to the brief fade when opening and closing the node graph. But besides that, are there any others you are thinking of? None come to mind aside from that one, but please remind me if there are others. |
So far this is the only one, yes. |
Ok, thanks for clarifying as that was as I'd thought. I don't currently think that it's worth having an open issue to track this development item which seems largely speculative towards future features, since it will depend on what future additions include transitions. My overall approach to UI design doesn't rely heavily on transition effects, and if that occasionally happens, I aim to keep them very fast and snappy. As it stands right now, I don't believe the 200ms fade time for opening and closing the node graph is excessive even from frequently repeated usage, so I'm not in favor of adding a preference to disable that. This could be reconsidered if future features add more animations, but as I mentioned above, that's speculative as to whether that will occur. So I will close this issue for now, but if future readers feel that it's worth reopening this, please feel free to chime into the discussion. Thanks. |
With fast and efficient workflows it would be good to have a preference option for removing UI animations.
Example case - opening Node Graph with 'Ctrl' + 'Space' - with more complicated projects this could be opened and closed thousand times per day.
