App does not download MMS messages, instead throws a generic pop-up error #296
Comments
Considering the fact that you also can't send MMS (#255 (comment)) - does MMS work in other apps (e.g. Google Messages or QKSMS), or is it only in Fossify Messages? There's a chance you've disabled too many services, or have misconfigured carrier settings. |
You are correct, it was mainly APN settings. I wrongly assumed that my SIM card would have provided the correct settings (i.e. defaults after network settings reset were incorrect). I also had to reduce my outgoing size to solve the sending issue mentioned elsewhere. I am still having a brief error message thrown when another person sends me an MMS message (the message is different now, too long to fit on the screen), but the error doesn't appear to stop me from receiving the MMS message. |
What does it say? |
Thanks, that's been reported. |
@puutelias It's reported here: #287. |
Checklist
Affected app version
1.1.4
Affected Android/Custom ROM version
OxygenOS 15
Affected device model
Oneplus 12
How did you install the app?
F-Droid / IzzyOnDroid
Steps to reproduce the bug
Expected behavior
MMS content should be downloaded, as in other SMS applications. Any error message of this type should be tied to the conversation the MMS was intended to be downloaded to, and should be reviewable, rather than just being a general static message that disappears in ~1 second.
Actual behavior
Another individual sends an image, voice message, or very long text message. An error message then briefly pops up on screen ("Error: Could not download MMS", or something similar) and disappears, without any sign of who it was coming from and no way to retrieve it.
Screenshots/Screen recordings
No response
Additional information
All bundled AI services on the phone have been disabled or removed, as well as bundled Google apps aside from Drive, Gmail, and Maps (i.e. Google Messages was the original default SMS app).
