Please can we have a clear statement on whether this variant of the syncthing-android app will be available on the Google Play system long term? The documentation says that the author is giving up their developer account and I don't know if that is Catfriend1 or the original developer of syncthing.

Nonetheless, using F-Droid is better as it doesn't ship with any restrictions:
