We will be driving laser rotation using a 50:1 gear DC motor with an encoder; see here. So the encoder will rotate 50 times for each rotation of the output shaft.
There will be a 20 tooth pinion gear on the output shaft and this will turn an 84 tooth gear to turn the shaft on which the laser range finder is mounted; see here.
So 5 revolutions of the encoder will turn the scanner by 1/42 of a revolution. So I would propose we 42newdegrees per revolution.
