@t-paul : Could try the building the debian 3mf-package from https://github.com/3MFConsortium/lib3mf/tree/lib3mf-v2-develop ?

I am pretty (completely) sure we will run into issues here and I would love to look into them early on with your help.

hi @t-paul ,

any chance you could look into the building of lib3mf-v2-develop for Debian? Your help would be very much appreciated!

We just prepared another prerelease of v2 https://github.com/3MFConsortium/lib3mf/releases/tag/v2.0.0-beta to gather feedback.
I would really love to include all changes necessary to get the Debian-build working into the official v2.0.0-release.

I'll have a look once there's more time. Just looking though the new branch, I'm not sure it's compatible with Debian packaging as I see there are some binary generators checked in. That might be a showstopper to get it packaged.

Ok, found https://github.com/Autodesk/AutomaticComponentToolkit - that's the source for the generator? That should be fine then.

@t-paul @knielsen is there anything we can do to help having 2.2 as a debian package?

I think the main thing is to update the OpenSCAD source to get it working with the new v2 lib3mf.

I have not looked into it myself, but my understanding is that the v2 library is not source compatible with v1, and would need updates to the OpenSCAD source code? I may look into that myself at some point, but a bit busy with other things currently.

If/when OpenSCAD is able to use the newest lib3mf library, I could look into packaging the library, I expect it should not be too hard.

OpenSCAD already supports the V2 API for a while.

I don't have the time right now to work through all the new things like dependency on the generator which can't be just used as binary in debian, so that (I believe) would need to be packaged first.

The CMake refactoring introduces debian and rpm packages through CPack generator. See #346 for more details.

If the scope of the issue was inclusion in Debian, it's not completed!

@t-paul I was just going through some of the old issues and closing the irrelevant ones. I am not sure if we will be attempting to get them into debian package repo right away. But we will have both debian and rpm packages as release artifacts in the upcoming release (2.3.2). I will re open it for now.
